Wednesday

It has been another busy day today! We started off with some fieldwork this morning, looking at some maps of the island and had a lovely long walk to the far side, identifying different human and physical features along the way. On our way back to camp, people were starting to come on to the island, so we carried on our fieldwork by asking them why they visited. It was interesting listening to their responses, with people coming from as far as Australia! This afternoon, we went down to Seahouses, to catch our boat out the Farne Islands. It was a bit choppy on the way out, but they all had their sea legs on! We saw lots of seals and different types of birds, including puffins and cormorants. The day was finished off by a peaceful liturgy, which the children took part in leading.

Tuesday

Well, we have had another lovely day! The sun has been shining, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed the new experiences provided. We started off the day on the island with some orienteering and completed a treasure hunt, which let us explore different parts of the island. We then headed down to Druridge Bay, where the children (and staff) were able to take part in paddle-boarding and kayaking, learning new skills and taking part in plenty of games. There were plenty of smiles, laughs and falling in! All in all, a lovely day had by all!

Monday

We've had a lovely first day. The children enjoyed seeing how people used to live (I don't think they'd like to go to the dentist though!). It was lovely and sunny, and we had our dinner sat on the grass at the bandstand. We had a lovely walk around the island this evening, and showed the children the different parts of it.
